Hey Laurie thanks for sharing your experience. You’re correct airlines are certainly making it harder to find deals! Frequent flyer seats are yield control just like all other seat class allocations. The general rule is you get the best deals and availability between seven and nine months ahead or in some cases in the last three weeks as airlines manage their inventory. In the past airlines simply wouldn’t have frequent flyer seats available for point redemption during high season but recently they adapted and they still make them available but at significant higher levels of redemption.. I hate to say it. It’s all about picking your dates.

Hey Emily thanks for the wonderful feedback!! It is a great mechanism for making the most of your precious Cash . It does however come with some restrictions if you’re not always find availability or the redemption rates could be high high season or a significant event occurring in the city you were wishing to fly to purchasing points banking them having some flexibility for when you redeem them and making that redemption early, can certainly lead to some amazing deals!! You’re right, they can be very arrogant and a little robotic. And they are not in the class of Qatar orEmirates. And I avoid Singapore as a departure point as the airfares are incredibly high. I usually try to depart out of Bangkok or Manila. If I’m looking for a business class deal to Europe or the Americas. actually, I found Colombo Sri Lanka incredibly affordable as aGateway. Really appreciate your thoughts and insight.

To be fair, their fleet is still really new. The backbone is the A350-900 which are on average 4-5 years old, with 2 years of that being grounded during covid, and they have a sizeable fleet of 787-10s along with a few new A380s to replace their older ones. The only 'old' plane they fly is the 777-300ER, but even these aren't that old compared to other airlines and have had cabin refreshes.

New planes = New prices.

Thanks for the information. Sorry I git that wrong its was the crew that told me they were new but I should have checked. The crew definitely had to flip them over . So has SQ not introduced any new seats for seven years?

@@ewanwilson2315 There has been (more than one) newer versions of the regional seats, but I can't keep track :) . Maybe it was newly installed in that aircraft itself. But if they had to flip them over then it is the older 2013 version. Which makes me wonder why not the 2017 version? I don't know, maybe that is only for the A380?

They certainly don’t compare to Qatar or in my opinion emirates. So who is your favourite currently?

Hey Richard thanks for the message. business class was about 60 % full premium economy was full and the back of the plane looked about 70 % full. they operate daily. I bought the tickets using Air Canada Aeroplan points. in cash terms, it costs about $1100 NZD.

Hi Alex, I couldn’t agree more on both points. I do hope that Bamboo Airways can survive as a smaller airline with a network in Asia only . I think Austrian will do well with some new aircraft as the inflight servicesis good.

A great point you’re right they can afford to be slightly cheaper with the money they save with shorter sector times than their better quality competitors.

@@ewanwilson2315 Yes. I mean one UK vlogger recently travelled LHR-BKK with Air China via Beijing. He filmed the long trip including the Beijing transit. Air China had one of the lowest prices. In normal times such a routing would be considered ridiculous !

Yes, Air New Zealand is certainly working on the revised cabin. it was supposed to come out in October with the delivery of some new 78 sevens but they’ve been delayed. my understanding is the business class called business premiere seats won’t have a closed-door but there will be 4 business premiere luxe suites At the front of the cabin that will. I don’t believe in New Zealand come out with the details yet of how they differentiate between the two price-wise. however overall I think the product will be much superior to what they’ve got on offer now.

Yep, it was ridiculous but. they have 2 ex Chathy Pacific aircraft that have a much better business class seat and new seats are coming but not for another year there’s been a delay. thanks for reaching out.

I didn’t know that they looked like leather to me, but you might be right.

No, they don’t although there’s quite a process at the airport but you don’t need a Visa in advance. In fact you can transit and leave the airport in some cities without a Visa for between 24 and 48 hours and then some cities up to 72 hours but you need to verify that with the carrier and your point of entry.

You are absolutely right they are very affordable, which is great.!

I think you might be mixing domestic services versus Intl airline services. With the exception of the odd low-cost long-haul carrier like Scoot most most carriers provide full meal and bar service in economy . I clearly highlight that China Southern is safe, they were punctual and cheap. but I don’t rate their service or food. I’m flying a couple of Chinese airlines again over the next few months and I look forward to putting them to the test again.

I have no doubt there is great food available in Guangzhou, as there is in several cities and regions in China. One bad experience on an airline. is simply that one bad experience it certainly isn’t an indictment of a particular city or country for that matter. Travel safe.

Good airlines serve great food even in economy. The facts are China Sothern on the two flights we had were safe but had poor service and poor food.

To be fair, even for economy that food looks awful!

Yesterday I was watching another vlogger who posted his report on CZ for CAN-DXB. Y class. Again you could see the catering quality was not great and onboard service was basic.

Thanks for reaching out. So I have been lucky enough to have flown the Vancouver Auckland in both premium and business class. if you were to watch my first-ever video, it was of me flying Air New Zealand and premium economy to Vancouver. I did manage to sleep quite well. The recline is good and the footrest is okay if you’re able to get a window and lean a little bit on the side of the aircraft I found that also beneficial.. the food service and wine etc and the amenity kit is great and the premium economy is definitely Air New Zealand sweet spot for affordability. however, although I’m very critical of Air New Zealand business class seats when sitting, in the lie flatbed configuration it’s very good. I recently did a video review on Air New Zealand in business class. It’s on the site and I demonstrate setting up the bed. Check that out. at the end of the day, I have to let you decide whether or not the price differential is justified and that will ultimately depend on the price variation on the day but I will say if you end up flying premium economy I think you will be fine and you’ll be able to sleep you certainly will get good space. I first start by saying I couldn’t agree more with your comments regarding Air New Zealand's premium economy product it is world-class. you are so correct regarding Auckland Airport and I think a majority of the population has no idea that critical regional turboprop services are still not going to be integrated into the main terminal. this is a very poor decision. Great question it is worth it but it is tidal so you’ve got to pick your times carefully. there are lots of families with kids but there is not a kids club. There are some activities in the main pool for kids like a floating castle. that was only at certain times of the day based on the daily program. I hope this helps safe travels.

Lol, I did notice in the cabin one gentleman wearing Emirates first class pyjamas and I did feel a little underdressed!
